Hello! 

I am studying to take the Ambulatory Certification Exam. I have the Core Curriculum and AAANC practice questions. I have taken the practice test once so far- the book says there is no target passing score but I am looking for guidance as to gauging my readiness to test based on my performance on the AAANC practice exam questions. Does anyone have any insight on this?

The AAACN Core Curriculum and ANCC practice questions are helpful. I also found the AAACN Review Course helpful.

I took and passed my AMB certification exam last year. I found the AAACN review class to be very helpful to prepare and listened to the class several times to help me prepare. I also purchased the Mometrix Test Preparation study materials that included additional practice tests that I found helpful. Everyone studies and learns differently, but for me it was helpful to make notes on my practice tests of which questions I struggled to answer and the answers I got wrong so I could go back and reviewed those sections.

I recently passed the AMB nursing certification exam. In addition to the review class and study guide, I took multiple online exam with Exam Edge. It helped me get into testing mode. I also took a practice proctored exam to get me ready.

 Congratulations on your work to become an Ambulatory Care Certified nurse.

For the test taking practice, I recommend you review why you are missing a question. Was it because you did not have the knowledge, such as when is a patient considered to have Diabetes, such as a HA1C of 6.5% or a fasting blood sugar of over 126 mg/dl? Then go back and review the labs for the most common diseases.

Or did you not understand WHAT the question was really asking. Such as, the care of an asthma patient and the question is asking what is your next step in the care? Did the situation describe the Assessment? The next step would be diagnosis, as evident in the nursing process. 

The ANCC does not publish a passing percentage, as they weight the questions based on complexity and prior passing rate. I would target to be better than 85% in all of the sections of the exam.
