Calling All Writers: Contribute to a Novel FQHC Nurse Toolkit!
An invitation from the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Special Interest Group to our colleagues in the CCTM, Clinical Inquiry, Leadership, NSI, Telehealth, and Clinical Education SIGs:
The FQHC SIG is developing the FQHC Nurse Toolkit, a collaborative publication designed to support and advance nursing practice in FQHCs. We're inviting members across AAACN to join us as writing contributors.
Why your expertise matters
FQHC nursing draws on every domain represented across our SIGs: Care coordination, leadership, telehealth, clinical education, pediatrics, clinical inquiry and nursing-sensitive indicators. This toolkit will be strongest if it reflects that diversity, and that means we need you.
You don't need FQHC experience to contribute. Write about what you know best. Contributors without a background in FQHC guidelines will be paired with an FQHC SIG member who will edit your content and layer in the FQHC-specific nuances, regulatory considerations, and practice-setting context. You bring the subject matter expertise; we'll bring the FQHC lens. It's a true partnership and a great way to learn about a growing practice setting along the way.
About the toolkit
The FQHC Nurse Toolkit has three aims:

Provide a practical reference on essential clinical and operational topics for nurses practicing in FQHCs.

Offer a strategic framework that FQHC leaders can adapt to advocate for the expansion and optimization of nursing roles.

Increase awareness of the regulatory, billing, and compliance requirements unique to the FQHC setting.
What's in it for you

Authorship on a novel publication – to our knowledge, no comprehensive FQHC nurse toolkit currently exists. Contributors will be creating a first-of-its-kind resource for the specialty.

Cross-SIG collaboration and the chance to build relationships with colleagues across AAACN.

A meaningful line on your CV and a tangible contribution to ambulatory care nursing practice.

The toolkit will also be the subject of an abstract submission to the 2027 AAACN Annual Conference.
