Bonnie,
Our organization uses the Elsevier Nursing Skills program for our skills and best practices. It will reference their resources at the end of the text. Potter & Perry, AHA, AACN, and Wong's pediatrics are all referenced for the BP upper extremity skill, so it doesn't appear there is one source they're pulling everything from.

Subject: BP Competency
Dear Team,
We are putting on an organizational Skills Fair. One station we are doing is Blood Pressure Manual Measurement competency. We are looking for competency resources. I have looked at many which have similar but varying ideas on proper measurement. One resource say inflate the cuff to 180-200 and slowly deflate, one resources say use the radial pulse and do an estimated systolic BP technique. One resource says you can only use the bell of the stethoscope, one says only diaphragm, one says you can use either.
My question is what resources do you utilize for evidence based practice.. I have been searching AHA, I was using the Iowa Health Plus toolkit, but it has one question that we do not agree with its accuracy when we utilize the quiz portion of the competency... What competency assessments are you all utilizing?
Thank you for any input,
Bonnie
