Hello colleagues,
I am seeking to connect with ambulatory nursing, advanced practice, or professional practice leaders in California whose organizations have implemented-or are actively developing-a process for BRN-certified 103 nurse practitioners to practice without standardized procedures under California Business and Professions Code §2837.103.
Our ambulatory medical group is beginning to evaluate this transition for qualified NPs, and I would appreciate learning how other organizations have approached areas such as:
• Organizational and medical leadership approval
• Credentialing and delineation of privileges
• Replacement of standardized procedures with clinical-practice policies or protocols
• Physician engagement and communication
• Consultation, referral, and escalation expectations
• Specialty and population-focus limitations
• EHR, prescribing, payer, and liability considerations
• Ongoing competency and performance oversight
• Preparation for NPs who may eventually qualify for 104 status
