    Hello everyone!

Are there any diabetes educators out there? If so, would you mind sharing your path to that goal and if you achieved certification or not? I have an interest in patient education and my personal physician suggested I look into becoming a diabetes educator. I don't know if the requirements are different in each state or if there is just one source for certification but if it makes a difference, I live in Colorado. Thank you.

    Hello Heather,

There was an article about this role in the Q1 2025 issue of ViewPoint that you may find helpful. The article starts on page 13 and is titled "The role of the certified diabetes care and education specialist". It discusses the pathway to this role, including certification requirements. https://www.aaacn.org/sites/default/files/members/viewpoint/Quarter_1_25_web.pdf

    Best,

    Elizabeth
