Hi,

I work in an ambulatory teaching clinic with Family and Internal Medicine residents.  We are looking at ways to improve diabetic foot exam performance.  

• Are there any clinics utilizing RNs to perform DF exams
• Are there any clinics utilizing MAs to perform DF exams

I would appreciate any guidance!

Hello Mary!

We use Medical Assistants, LPNs, and RNs to perform DFE in primary care. We have a competency form, and the image from the competency form aligns with the documentation tool from our EMR. We also have a diabetic foot simulator that shows redness, a callous, and at least one wound on darker skin.
