  • 1.  Infectious Disease Tracking in EPIC OCHIN

    Hi everyone!

We recently transitioned to Epic OCHIN from NextGen. In NextGen, I had created templates to track and report on multiple grants we work with for Hep C, Ryan White, and TB treatment, status of labs, care plan status, etc. We also had Care Guidelines that we could build to create reminders for providers to order specific labs and for nurses to f/up on LTBI treatments etc. I've been told that this is not an option in Epic. Is there anything similar in EPIC? Any input would be greatly appreciated! How do you track RW and Hep C?

    Thank you!

    Hi!
We've been on Epic since 2013 and our IT Team has been able to build amazing reports and reminders built in order sets for specific patient populations. They collaborate with the the MD , Nursing, and necessary departments. I am not familiar with the reports or data you mention. However, I would encourage you to continue to work with the stakeholders .
    Kind Regards,

Epic has Best Practice Guidelines that your clinician builders can work with Epic to create. We have several for women’s health and primary care that follow HEDIS and PCMH guidelines. There is also a health maintenance section that can be built department specific for quality metrics. Work closely with the epic best friend and analysts in the beginning to build what you need .

    Thank you Amy,

I will ask IT to look into health maintenance functionality again. I was told there isn't much that we can change in health maintenance or care gaps because it would be a collaborative-wide change request. I just need a way to track specific patients or dx.

    Thanks again!

    Hi Lorraine,

Thank you for your reply. It's nice to hear that there are some tools that may be of help. However, out IT team is still learning the basics and do not know how to accomplish what you or I have described. Based on your feedback, I'll ask out IT team to look into the capabilities of order sets.

    Thank you,
