    Hello,
I was a hoping to connect with someone that has recently taken the AMB-BC. I have read and skimmed the large study guide and taken the 180 test questions (all material is from AAACN) and reviewed the answers. What did other RN's do to prepare for the exam?

    Hello Meredith,

Mine's not super recent, I'm a little more than two years in with mine.

But, I did basically the same things you have done but also had a set of flash cards that a nurse co-worker and I used together. I also took the review course X2 over a few years' time period and the "comments" they provided helped a lot.

I finally just decided to go for it to alleviate the stress of the unknown and thinking that I would then know what it's all about and could retake it, if needed, but thankfully passed it!

    Good Luck!

I took mine about a little over a year ago.  CE Direct provides a review course although not comprehensive, it was a great review.  I also used the books available and took several tests available online.  I took the new test right when it came out.  I took about 5 months to prepare and take the test.

    Good morning!

I took my exam in October. I did Mometric practice test and Karen Danvers-Perez book on Ambulatory Care Practice Questions. I used an App called Quizlet.  I purchased the course offered on line with AAANC and just listened to the course over and over again too.

The test questions I found to be very much like nursing board type questions. It is book knowledge nurse 101 and not real life. Patient safety, cultural diversity and nursing process were the major parts of the exam.

My phone number is 843-333-8620 and my personal email is gmegmegme@yahoo.com if you want to talk more, I'd be happy to talk to you.

    Hi Meredith -
I took the exam in October.  I did purchase the review course and also did the review questions and Mometric test questions.  I would take the practice tests and then review the material from the course for the questions I missed.  I took about 3 months to study for the exam.  Good Luck!

I just took and passed the test November 4!  I took the pretest on the ANCC Website to gauge where I was and how far away I was from being successful. I thankfully gained some confidence with those results even though there were only maybe 20 questions?  I figured if I couldn't answer those I wasn't ready.  I scheduled my test for 6 weeks later.

I listened to the AAACN On Demand Ambulatory Care Nursing Certification Review Course once through.  It really helped with the more specific details that I wouldn't have known. I also got the
Karen Danvers-Perez book on Ambulatory Care Practice Questions on the Kindle Version through Amazon and would go through those questions on my phone waiting in lines, on hold, at lunch etc.    It helped me prepare for the way questions are asked. I found both very helpful.

I have been a nurse for many years and am also certified in Pain Management( 3 years ago) but am relatively new to the ambulatory specialty.  I found the core clinical parts, lab values, practice, etc were already in my brain I just had recall them.  You know more than you think, especially if you have practiced professionally for years.

I needed the certification before June 30, 2023 for my Professional Career Portfolio Program so figured I would take it before Christmas and would still have time to study for it again before June if I didn't pass. I passed! Yeah!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions!  I am happy to share my experience!

    Hi Meredith

I passed the test last month. I studied with a great group of people from this organization.  we went thru the same book and reviewed several questions.
