does anyone hire/use medical office assistants? do you utilize a decision tree for what tasks they can do or do you just have specifics they can do within the job description and they cannot perform any other tasks than those?

    thank you

We have 4 layers of clinical assistants all whom have different job descriptions.

RN and LPN job descriptions are very similar due to our states NPA but there are differences.

CMA and CCMA job descriptions are also similar.  Biggest difference would be education and phone triage those are nurse functions.

We also have a tech role in some clinics.  These clinical assistants can complete the rooming process.  We also train them to do point of care testing and EKGs.  They cannot do anything with medications or triage.  Their scope is very limited to just tasks.

I would be happy to share job descriptions if that would be helpful.

We utilize Medical Office Assistants in our Medical Office Series. The series is Medical Office Assistants, Medical Office Associates, Medical Office Specialist and Medical Office Coordinator. Each position has a position description that states the tasks they can do. They cannot perform any dutes that are not int he PD and are found in those at higher level. The main difference is handling financial transactions and experience. After one year we move them intot he Medical Office Associate position where they take on those financial trasaction and a few other things. Hope this helps.
