Good morning, all!
I am working on implementing barcode medication administration in our ambulatory clinics but have run into an issue with our multi-dose vials. With single dose vials, we can bring them into the patient room for scanning at the bedside, but infection prevention does not allow for the multi-dose vials to enter the patient room. Ideally, we are planning to have all clinics switch to single use vials, but in the meantime, would love to hear your thoughts. If your clinic is scanning for medication administration, how do you handle administering medications from multi-dose vials? Thank you!
