  • 1.  Nurses Entering Titration Orders

    Posted 11-09-2023 07:47

    Hi everyone,

I am in need of some guidance! How are other academic medical centers handling providers entering titration orders? Specifically those for Pulmonary Hypertension? We have several providers who are insisting that nurses should be able to take these orders and titrate them based on the patient's labs, time passed, etc. I would like to understand if and when other practices have nurses enter these orders. I suspect that this is simply out of scope, but I may not have a thorough enough understanding of the workflow, so I am hoping to learn something!!

    Thank you!

    Hi Torie,
We have developed some nurse driven protocols that support nurses adjusting medications- for example - diuretics in our advanced heart disease clinic. The protocols have to have very specific inclusion and exclusion criteria and approved not only nursing, but also by pharmacy and the medical executive committees.
