  • 1.  Quality Indicators for A1C Point of Care Testing for Diabetes managment

    Posted yesterday

Good afternoon, has anyone had any success in utilization of point of care testing with A1C to increase compliance for diabetic monitoring?  We are currently embarking on an evaluation of patients getting bloodwork prior to primary care visits, vs doing a POC A1C in the office.

If you found POC testing to be efficient, what equipment are you using in the ambulatory setting?

    thank you,

    Hi, Linda.

We do POC testing for A1C in our pediatric endocrine clinic, as well as microalbumin/creatinine.  We use the DCA2000 analyzer, the A1C test uses blood and takes about 6 minutes to run and the microalbumin uses urine and takes 7 minutes to run.

    Hope that helps!
