  • 1.  Settings and Monitoring Standards for Implantable Cardiac Loop Monitors

    Posted 04-14-2025 12:57

    Hello community members!

I am interested to hear from anyone whose organizations currently support electrophysiology/interventional cardiology teams regarding implantable cardiac loop monitoring devices, specifically the settings these are being implanted in, and the standard of care relative to patient monitoring.

My understanding is that these are most often implanted in EP or cath labs; our organization does not have this resource. We currently implant them in the OR, but there is interest in moving this to a procedure room in a hospital-based outpatient clinic. Patients have, by definition, some sort of rhythm/EP concern for which they need close long-term monitoring.

Is this procedure done in outpatient, hospital-based clinic treatment or procedure rooms elsewhere? If so, how are your patients selected as candidates? How are they monitored during the implantation procedure? What types of emergency protocols has your facility developed to support safe practice?

    Thank you AAACN community!

Hi Heather! I am currently researching the same for our organization. They are wanting to move some to the outpatient world due to the cath labs being so full with other procedure needs. Did you all end up implementing this? were you able to find other organizations who placed them in an outpatient setting?
