Hello,

Does anyone have any guidance on instrument and/or soft/sharp supplies counts in an ambulatory setting for an in-office procedure or surgery?

We have had an incident surrounding a retained item from an in-office procedure.  

I am looking to create a Standard of Work (SOW) or policy surrounding this, in addition to creating an instrument/sponge count sheet for our practices to use. If anyone could share what they use for us to reference, I would greatly appreciate it! 

AORN does not have guidance for a non-surgical, ambulatory practice setting, regarding counts.

I appreciate any guidance or assistance anyone can provide.
