    We are looking into re-vamping our orientation process for ambulatory care clinical staff, anyone have an orientation/onboarding program that is going well?

    ​Hi Susanna, I am sorry for the delayed response! A little background information, we are developing a week long Ambulatory specific orientation for the new staff prior to them going to there clinical areas.     Hi Jessica,
    Would you be willing to share a little about your onboarding process, specifically what you do for online modules and what you do in person? We currently onboard all our clinical staff in person over 2.5 days, including all POCT competency completed prior to staff entering their clinic setting. They are then required to compete a performance criteria over 8 weeks that is specific to their area.

    Natasha, Our orientation process has many layers. We provide learning modules in two systems: Learning Exchange and Workday. ​The in-person part of orientation has been put on hold due to covid until now, this is what the ambulatory nurse clinicians are working towards reestablishing. We are planning a two week long orientation process for the new staff prior to them stepping foot in their clinics. We are still in the planning phase and will initiate next month.

    i am also looking for this information. I have recently assumed responsibility for a small student health center in NYC. We do not have any set protocols for orientation or onboarding. In fact, there are not many protocols in general. My position is new. I need to build as I go along.  Any advice would be very much appreciated!

    Claudia,

    I am in the same situation as you are. I am 7 weeks into my new role as Director of Nursing for our ambulatory clinics. I have a long history as an ED Nurse and in Quality Management. We put our first RN in our PCP clinic 7.5 weeks ago so I am developing the nursing services program from scratch, not a single policy has been created. Clinical telephone triage is needed and so far the resources from AAACN and Carol Rutenberg is all I have found that could potentially help me build this part of the program.

    I would love to be included in any and all opportunities to learn from those who have done this before.
