Hello, I am exploring telephone triage program options. I'm currently playing with Clear Triage platform. Our office nurses have used Briggs triage book for many years. What do others use?

We just implemented ClearTriage at my facility. It has been a bit of a bumpy start. Some love it, some feel it is cumbersome. We are having the rep do a teaching session and working on policy/tipsheets/etc. One thing I will say about ClearTriage is that there is a Daytime and an Evening subscription (both can be accessed any time). We got the daytime protocols, but I am told by a colleague at another facility that the evening protocols have more protocols available. Just something to think about while playing with the program! We are attempting to implement SymtpomScreen as well, for our non-clinical call center staff.

We use Schmitt-Thompson which is embedded within Epic – our HER.

My organization is also in the process of updating our telephone triage system. We've purchased ClearTriage for our triage nurse and SymptomScreen for our non-clinical contact center reps but haven't rolled out either yet. I've used CT as part of our pilot process and I liked it. You still have to use your clinical experience and judgement, but the software supports that process and provides some standardization among triage staff.
When we were exploring options, we found CT/SS to be the most affordable option by a significant margin, in case cost-effectiveness is an issue for you.

    Hello,

we are going LIVE with Clear Triage today at noon! Our Nurses have been trained and we have a support Team available to " iron out the kinks " along the way.

personally, I prefer Clear Triage over TXCC ( Triage Expert) as it provides A LOT more resources to assist the Triage Nurse in choosing an acceptable, accurate disposition for the patient; and you can triage for more than one condition with Clear Triage- you can't do that with TXCC.

At IU Health we use Triage Logic which is a sister program to Clear Triage, but we will also be moving to EPIC in 2027, and these protocols will be embedded. My thoughts on the differences between the two comes down largely to aesthetic. I do think Clear Triage allows you to add multiple symptoms in the field to help narrow down your questions though I think this could take away from nursing judgement to some degree. Neither is a bad system and is far superior to using books in terms of effeficiency.

We use Schmidt and Thompson protocols that are embedded into our EMR system of EPIC.   We looked at Clear Triage and Triage Logic.  We liked them both, but out of our budget.
