Emily,
We were able to completely change our ambulatory care clinic nursing education in January of this year to the TSAM model. It has been extremely successful with positive feedback from our practice managers, preceptors and new associates. It does take a lot of communication and follow up to help the teams with the change. Since my educator and myself put it together we knew what we meant but our managers and preceptors were unsure at first. It was up to us to be sure and plan regular communication to them as well as many follow up check in's. We also added a shadow day as that was the number 1 feedback I had from new associates over the last 2 years, they felt if they could see what happens in the clinic before they came to our class it would make more sense. We updated our competency pathway to be in order of the tiers so it would be easier for the preceptors signing off. I have attached our schedule for you to see.

Subject: TSAM Orientation Model
Hello -
We are working on revamping our orientation documents for staff. I was wondering if anyone is currently using the TSAM model for orientation in ambulatory?
If yes - has it been beneficial for the staff, preceptors, educators? Would you be willing to share your model if you have adopted this?
Thanks - Emily
