  • 1.  Best Practice Wound Care in Primary Clinics

    Our organization does have a WOCN specialty clinic; however, we are looking to find best practice for wound care in the ambulatory community.  Does anyone have any resources?  Can you describe what your RNs/MAs are able to perform in the ambulatory setting?

    We using standing orders to drive what the nurses can do independently in our wound clinic. We have several that outline various types of nurse visits and the criteria patients must meet to be included. Happy to chat more with either/both of you @Keri Urquhart & @Michaelene Wolff.

    My practice setting is an OB Clinic (hospital based ambulatory care setting). The wounds I see are mostly c-section related: seromas, hematoma resulting in an open, draining wound. The co-morbidities which delay the wound healing seem to be DM, and obesity, Our clinic ihas just started looking into the development of standing orders for wound care too. There is an inpatient wound care team who is a great resource.
