Hi there,
If anyone would be willing to share their experience with being a nurse with a BSN to a MSN in the context of getting a job, I would really appreciate it.
I just started a MSN program. I quit my job 8 months ago so my husband and I could do some traveling. This eliminates the possibility of transition into a new role, as some do when they obtain further education. The facility I left doesn't hire MSN-prepared nurses other than NPs anyway.
I have been a RN for 20 years, first with an ADN then 8 years later obtaining a BSN and now, 12 years later, attempting to get a MSN.
I really enjoy patient interactions but am not interested in becoming an NP. I contemplated pursuing necessary education to be a CNS but it seems in my state, Colorado, there aren't many job opportunities for that role. I enjoy teaching but mostly in the context of patient education or orienting new employees in a one-on-one situation.
I appreciate anyone's insights!
