  • 1.  DIVA-difficult intravenous access in the ambulatory setting

    Posted 10-08-2024 13:38

We have DIVA nurses in our in-patient hospital but looking at expanding it to our out-patient infusion centers.  Wondering if anyone has implemented the DIVA program in their outpatient setting and any recommendations you would have.

    Thanks!

    Elizabeth,

We actually implemented the DIVA nurse program in our outpatient IV therapy unit. This was actually a shared governance project and collaboration between our front line nurses, Oncology CNS, and the Oncology CNE.

We had great results and that team has presented at a couple conferences, it was also showcased in our Magnet document and during our survey.

Our CNS that helped lead the project has since moved on, but let me know if you'd like for me to get you in touch with someone from that team. They also published their project in the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing, I attached a preview of that article so you have the information.

    Thanks,
    Sarah
