  • 1.  EPIC process for Clearance for surgeries

    Posted 11-21-2024 11:32

I work in a specialty, subspecialty cardiology clinic. We process cardiac clearances and medication hold requests for other clinics when patients are having non-cardiac surgeries or procedures.

This process crosses medical records, RN/MA, Provider teams and we are finding that our call center team also would benefit from visibility into this process in case patients call with questions. it also typically involves paper forms that need to be scanned into the chart and faxed to other offices. We utilize EPIC for our electronic health record. Does anyone have a process they use to maintain visibility of the full process and close the loop?

Currently our medical records team was opening a release in the chart to track that the process is started and keep it open until the final clearances have been completed, but they have realized that the other team members in this process have no visibility into that portion of EPIC. Wondering if anyone out there has a good process for this?

    Thanks!

I work in a surgery clinic. We track clearances in one encounter. The RN addends the main checklist/note as clearances come in. The rest of the team adds notes to the same encounter. We use Procedure Pass to communicate with Anesthesia and APPs.
