Good afternoon nurse leaders,
We are a large multispecialty ambulatory care center with over 70+ multispecialty clinics ranging from hospital based and non-hospital-based departments, including Oncology, Urology, Otolaryngology, Surgery, Orthopedics, etc. We are evaluating ways to assign rooms to providers while still maintaining high utilization. For those that have a large multispecialty practice presence, do you assign rooms based on provider or do you assign rooms based on "first available" room in a given care area, regardless of provider or service? How does this impact your nursing care model – do nurses flex across services or focus on one service?
As always, I am grateful to you for any input.
Sincerely,
Kathy Zanelli
