Good morning,
Eschosen provides training and the trainees must demonstrate competency by the company of at least 4 volunteers. The company does provide objects of what the trainees need to know for competency.
RNs can perform fibroscan, but not interpret the results. My chief interprets and co-signs the results
NPs can perform fibroscan and interpret result with training for competency.

Subject: Fibroscan in Ambulatory Care
We are planning to implement Fibroscan (echosans) in our GI/Liver clinic. I would like some current insights as to how other ambulatory clinics are managing this non-invasive procedure. A few questions:
- Who is performing the exam? In CA, the BRN states that this is outside the RN scope of practice, so we are creating a standardized procedure along with vendor competency validation. Has anyone created a SP for RNs to perform this examination?
- Is anyone willing to share a competency validation tool or checklist with us?
- Any practice pearls that you can share with our team as we plan?
Thank you,
