  • 1.  Is AAACN certification 'syllabus' necessary?

    Posted 10-22-2022 22:58

I purchased the curriculum ebook, syllabus, practice questions, and the course, but instead of getting a syllabus I received a hard copy of the curriculum book that I previously purchased on iBooks. It has only been 1 business day so I haven't heard  from aaacn yet, but I am just curious to know how many people don't even use a syllabus?

Amazon is selling the syllabus for 3x the price which is appalling. I would like someone that passed the exam to tell me that I don't need the syllabus?

I still have 6-9 months of planned study so maybe after I finish reading the curriculum book I will feel more confident about the material. I also learned some content by listening to the first lesson of the course in the car during my commute to work last week. The course has a  printed slide show which I am wondering if it follows the outline of the syllabus?

    Thank you,
    Myra

    Hi there,

I finished the test and personally did not use the syllabus. My understanding is that the test will be updated next year. I would also recommend the review course which was helpful.

    Hi Anglela and Myra,

I want to clear up what seems to be some confusion regarding the Ambulatory Care Nursing Certification and the study resources.  The exam was just updated and it will be quite some time before it's updated again. The Syllabus is the new 2022 one and corresponds with the updated course (available in our Online Libraryand can be used to design your individual study plan for the exam.

We actually held a Community Live Call around Certification and study tips for success in early October that you can find in the Open Forum Library. To access the folder click the dropdown next to the folder titled COMMUNITY LIVE. From there you'll find the folder:
Ambulatory Care Nursing Certification Chat- Tips for Success

You can download the listen to the recording from the library or download it to access at a later date.

I hope this helps! Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions,
    Jennie

    Good Morning!

I took the course twice since I waited so long in between.

I took the syllabus to both classes and wrote lots of notes.

I started reading the course book, but did not get past the first few chapters.

I purchased the Certification Review course and watched it a few times.  I followed along on the Ambulatory Care Nursing Certification Review Course Syllabus and marked up that book with notes.  I did the practice tests in the Ambulatory Care Nursing Review Questions and one by Mometrix and any free updated ones I found online.  I briefly reviewed flash cards and a study guide (Mometrix).  I found these less helpful.  The questions weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be, either that, or I was adequately prepared. Good luck!
