Dr. Bernhardt is a family nurse practitioner and nurse executive who is interested in determining nursing's contribution to team-based care for patients with opioid-use disorder. The office-based addiction team (OBAT) nurses are the team coordinators for care and primary contacts for patients. Through the lens of the Nursing Role Effectiveness Model, she has identified nursing interventions related to the key nurse-sensitive indicators of care coordination and transition management. Dr. Bernhardt and her colleagues have begun foundational work in identifying predictors to treatment outcomes and the contributions of nurses, as well as other team members.
