Bridging the Gap Between VA Primary Care Nursing Activities and Clinical Outcomes
Wednesday, 11/16/2022, 1 pm ET/12 pm CT/11 am MT/10 am PT

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) lacked a standardized, accurate, reliable process to understand the type of work that nurses, both RN and LPN, perform in primary care. To mitigate this gap, a quality improvement project was undertaken that observed the work that VA primary care nurses are documenting in the electronic health records, perceive what they are doing through a national survey, and are performing through a time in motion study. We hope the information gleaned from this project will serve as a nexus between VA primary care nursing activities and clinical outcomes.
November's NSI Chat will feature two key team members who championed this project, and they will share their survey results, which reflect RN to LPN and Medical Center to Community-Based Outpatient Clinic responses. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on the types of nursing care relevant to NSIs and how to use survey study outcomes as supporting data.
The call will be recorded and shared in the NSI Networking Community for anyone who cannot attend.
