    Hi Team,

We are working on ways to establish staff retention and resiliency with our medical assistants.  One of the solutions we strategized is to develop a clinical ladder. We are at the starting point and could use your insight on what worked and what did not. Curious, what tools have you implemented? What learned lessons do you have with the development of your clinical ladder specifically for medical assistants?  Thank you,

    Hello Vincent,
I would also like to know about anyone who has instituted an MA clinical ladder. In our organization we have MA I and MA II levels with the only requirement for an MA II being certification. We have recently instituted and MA Lead position with a slightly higher pay range to aid in ensuring smooth day-to-day clinical operations; with oversight of supply ordering, vaccine ordering, maintenance of the vaccine registry, and to act as the liaison between nursing management and the MA clinical staff to name a few of the responsibilities. They are also part of the LEAN team, representing the MAs in continuous improvement projects.
    Hope you find this helpful!

This comes up quite frequently.  Suggest you search past discussions.  There have also been a couple of presentations at conferences.

Totally agree, our Medical Assistants need to be recognized and rewarded.

    Regards,

    Pam

Lots of discussion about this in the past so would encourage you to search archives.  I was part of a team that did a MA ladder webinar in October 2021 and think you can search MA Webinar and find that information.
