I have managed MAs for over 20 years. I have seen situations where MAs were consistently paired with the same provider for consistency purposes. While this does allow them to understand the needs of that specific provider, I have always endorsed the concept of rotating teams. This allows each MA to understand the workflow of each provider. This does enhance team work as well because there was no concept of “my MA”. We all know that staff can be out for a multitude of reasons (sick, vacation , other leaves) and if no rotation, the teams feel fragmented and unfamiliar with each other during coverage. Also, having rotating teams allows for adherence to standards of care and workflows as working with a different person and seeing a change in workflow would result in someone letting me know! It also helps with annual evaluations as more people can give input on performance. Hope this helps.
