I work with an FQHC in Maine.  We do collaborative visits with PCP's in the office setting.   The providers are asking that the RN's do MOCA assessments.  It seems online that there is a certification requirement.   Does anyone have experience with this in the office setting ?

    Thank you

I work for primary care clinics, and we ran into a similar situation. Would like to know what others are doing as well. The mini mental is taught on Nursing Reference Center Plus but I see that the mini mental is copyrighted.

    Thank you,

    Melissa

    HI Dana,

We are an FQHC in Oregon and just went through this whole process. Everyone was doing something different in our clinics.  We ended up teaching MA's and RN's the MIni Cog for the Medicare Annual Wellness Visit as a screening.  Then the RN's and behavioral health team also learned the SLUMS as a more advanced tool. (I know...what a name!)  Anyway, the SLUMS isn't perfect but it does not require a certificate that you have to pay for nor is it copyrighted.  We also were able to find someone in our community to do the training for us and it is in our EPIC flowsheets which helped as well.

    Hi Dana,

I am at an FQHC in Oregon as well. We had our Nurses and our MA complete the MOCA training through this website https://mocacognition.com/training-certification/. We did notice that our RNs do these frequently and the MA's not as often. We will continue with having our RNs get MOCA certified but no longer pay for our MAs since they do not complete them as often.

Thank you so much.   The price is an issue for us but I think we may move forward with the certification for at least one of our RN's
