    HI!

I am posting to find out if any other organizations out there have added Ophthalmology Techs to their scope of care task lists.  I found one example from about 8 years ago within the community.  I am looking for examples as our task list is growing very long as we work to make it all inclusive and a "one-stop shop" for our clinical and non-clinical leaders within our large, ever-growing outpatient organization.

    Thanks so much in advance!

This is a great question. We have 9 ambulatory clinics and the 3 largest sites offer Opthalmology clinics.  Our nurses and CMA's rotate through these areas.  It's always a bit of challenge as the eye clinic has machines and equipment that most nurses have never seen.  We had an experienced CMA that was well trained by a provider a number of years ago but she retired this past year.  Sharing a link to IJCAHPO.  They are the leaders in eye training.   Education - IJCAHPO | International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology

Thanks so much and thank you for the link. We too have pulled IJCAHPO for reference as well as our SMEs to the table in adding Ophthalmology Techs to our Ambulatory Scope of Care Task List. We do not have any CMAs in our eye clinics performing ophthalmology tasks, but we do have ophthalmology techs performing some medical assistant tasks. Listing each ophthalmology task is a very detailed and involved process, and is lengthening our list. I am mulling over how best to socialize this for the organization and wondering how others may have approached the publication of tasks.

    Thanks Again!
