What standards do your facilities have set for pediatric pedal sign in the ambulatory setting? At what age is it a standard to get a blood pressure at a well visit and sick visit.

    Amanda,

At my organization, we obtain pediatric vitals excluding blood pressure until age 2. This includes: Temp, pulse, respiration, Ht, Wt (done last), and head circumference (lying down). When the patient turns age 3, then we start to get blood pressure. This pertains to either well or sick visits. I hope this information helps.

We are starting to look at this as an overall standard, what is the regulatory requirement and what leads to better care? We are looking at our whole intake process to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Our staffing crisis may very well be an efficiency crisis because we've never taken a really hard look at what we do and why.
