Mr.Garrett,
Regarding your questions, who can mentor them? That depends on the University/College requirements to be preceptors. Our agency accepts students and we have a MOU with the school that outlines requirements based on the university's criteria for preceptors, course requirements (to answer what they can do in clinic). Our students' experience is based on what the requirements of the clinical experience are and what the preceptor is able to offer the students. Additionally, the clinical experiences are also student-driven and they will get more out of it if they are eager and willing to learn. Our agency has 'student profiles' in the EHR which limits what they can access, but it is restricted and does not allow access to all sections of the record. The students are provided a HPI and the necessary information to foster learning during the clinical experience.
I am not sure if this helps but I can look into our processes and get with you off line.

Subject: Policy and Procedure for students
I am looking for a policy and procedure about a primary care clinic accepting nursing students . For example, who can mentor them, what can a student do in the clinic, usage of the clinic's EHR, etc. Does anyone have one that they could share? Thanks.
