Good morning,
Looking for any information on how post-operative void trials are conducted in your ambulatory urology/pelvic health clinics. My main questions are:
- How is the need for the void trial being communicated to nursing--is it ordered in the EHR, communicated verbally, or is a message being sent to the nurse in the EHR without an order?
- Are these visits typically scheduled as a provider visit or nurse visit?
- If the patient fails the void trial, does nursing determine which catheterization method to use or does the provider? Are providers placing an order in the EHR for CIC or Foley re-insertion?
- Is anyone's area using a policy/protocol/standing order for this?
Looking forward to you all's responses. Thank you.
