    Hi,

Can you help me post the following question?

    Topic – Shared Nursing Resources

Question - "Do you currently have, or have you ever tried, shared nursing positions between inpatient and outpatient care areas? (We are looking at exploring options within oncology). If you have, what has your experience been?"

    Thanks,

    Tina

    Tina-

i have not. But I like this idea. What are you hoping to gain through a shared position?

    Hello Tina,

I work at an outpatient surgery, trauma, and burn clinic. We have two RNs and five MAs. Once in a while our other RN and myself help at the burn ICU and burn stepdown unit. It takes about three hours and three RNs to take down burn dressings in one patient depending on the TBSA. I personally find it very helpful as I get a chance to work with the patient while they are in the hospital and again at the outpatient clinic. It builds a nurse patient relationship and the patient feels less anxious when they come to the clinic. I highly recommend it.

    Good Morning!

We are exploring floating team members from inpatient to outpatient, but do not have shared positions at this time. Team members and leaders are excited about the float model! Future state we may explore floating from outpatient to inpatient, but we are just starting this journey.
