Documenting Patient Education in Epic

    Hi everyone,

I'm looking for guidance and best practices on how nurses are documenting patient education in Epic within an ambulatory setting.

Currently, I am struggling to find a flowsheet or structured documentation tool that is editable and meaningful for nursing education, which has led to narrative notes. While this gets the information documented, we're concerned about consistency, reporting, and the overall usability of this approach.

    I'd love to learn:

    • What Epic tools are you using to document nursing education? (Flowsheets, education activities, SmartForms, SmartTexts, etc.)
    • Do you have an education‑specific flowsheet that nurses actually use?
    • How are you balancing structured documentation vs. narrative notes?
    • Any tips on builds or workflows that improved nurse adoption in the ambulatory space?

Appreciate any insights, screenshots, or lessons learned. Thanks in advance!
