We are looking for more information around the work completed in Mohs procedures.
For the Mohs procedures completed in the ambulatory clinic who do you have assisting the provider and cutting of the tissue? (a histo tech function and role). Has anyone utilized/trained another role to do the work?

    Thanks

    Hi Karla,

I worked in the Mohs clinic at our organization for 20+ years.  The nurses assisted the provider and we did the cautery and dressing after the tissue was taken.  We used histology technicians to mark and process the tissue.  When I first started we only had one histo tech and then added another.  In the beginning the nurses (RN at that time) also did cut and mark the tissue and put it in a petri dish to bring to the histo tech in the lab.  Later we changed to the histo tech coming to the procedure room and cutting and marking themselves. Let me know if you have any other questions.
