Our Primary Care service line has triage (all RN, all remote). We generally have LPNs on site with MAs assisting, but you'll notice the role has LPN/RN. In our area (eastern KS) LPNs are scarce and in order to have licensed staff on site we have added RNs on occasion. We do have a few remote LPN positions to assist the office teams with tasks that don't require being onsite. Our refill center role is not included here, but that workforce is entirely LPNs working remotely. We use Epic, so some of the wording corresponds to Epic workflows.

We have LPNs in most of our outpatient specialty clinics and their role is heavily driven by scope of practice in our state. We use LPNs primarily as the nursing presence in clinic for medication administration, teaching, procedure assistance, etc. In my state LPNs are not able to follow protocols so we have RNs doing all refills in addition to their triage role.

We use our LPN's in the hemodialysis unit and in the pediatric clinics to administer vaccines and work under the supervision of an RN.
