  • 1.  MA role/competency

    Posted 09-02-2025 10:46

Hello! I am wondering if there are any new medical assistance role delineation documents available from this community. I am also looking for any competency verification or testing tools that are used. Also lastly, has anyone developed an internal training to certification pathway internally?

    Thanks so much!

    Greetings,

Our organization had created a "Matrix" for the roles in our ambulatory clinics. This tool identifies skills clinical staff are allowed to perform based on their role. Additionally, we have a skills checklist that clinical staff are required to sign off on during their orientation. I can email these to you. We do not have a program for MA certification.

    Thank you,

We have developed a MA Scope of Practice document that we use across our ambulatory environment (400+ offices and 34 Urgent Cares).  It is very detailed and outlines those skills that are or are not within the MA Scope (MD, DC and VA).  We have also created several competency tools that we use during orientation and then on an annual basis.  Happy to share or discuss further if that would be helpful!

We developed an internal educational program for MAs here. It doesn't lead to certification as this is not required for our MAs but is based off of outcomes and performance improvement in the ambulatory space.
