Hi there!

I am currently trying to implement an RN position in ambulatory care across our division. I am an RN but currently working as a supervisor and I have about 9 or so primary care clinics. I also have one that focuses on gender and STI and one that is the residency clinic. I have looked through pages of previous nurse led visits and such but from several years ago. I am hoping someone may have a more current version of nurse led clinic visits and/or co op including telehealth. I have no idea where to begin designing this position. I am also not very savvy on the billing aspects. Any guidance? If you have protocols or guides already drawn up would love to look at them!

Hi Monique,

 

There are limited billing codes for nurse-led visits but there are some. I would look into them with your billing/coding or revenue integrity team. A lot of the nurse-led visits also supports access, allowing providers to focus on other patients, and helps to reduce utilization, so cost savings.

 

Here is one resource that could help you in identifying some billable codes: Care Management | CMS. An additional code may be the CPT 99211.

 

If you look on the AAACN under Communities, there are different SIG groups and resources. You can use the search function also to look up specific topics such as a job description. I hope this helps!
