Nancy,
We have Practical Nursing students that rotate in one of our combined primary care/urgent care clinics. This group usually has a rotation at our hospital the same semester. For the clinics the primary orientation is around HIPAA and protecting PHI. Our organization does not allow them to chart in our EMR for the clinics. I believe that they get view only access for the hospital. The instructors however are given access to chart so they attend orientation similar to our new hire staff with a modified clinical related to equipment use. On the clinic side we also teach the instructors to document injections so the students can administer injections with their instructor during their clinical rotation.
