Thanks Angela- appreciate your input. Our RNs are not routinely placing sutures, but the AZ Board of Nursing has deemed punch biopsies within scope of the RN (with specific requirements, including additional education and competency) and includes suturing techniques as part of the required curriculum. As mentioned, we wanted to see if RNs were placing sutures for any other indications anywhere else. Thanks for your response!

I hope you have some feedback on the post, because I am curious. Are your RNs currently doing suture placement? In Wisconsin, this is considered an advanced practice and only providers are able to do this.

Subject: RN Scope of Practice: Suture Placement
Hello,
Looking to benchmark- does anyone have RNs placing sutures for any indication at your institutions? We have had a few practice questions come up across various departments at our organization that involve RNs placing sutures for different indications/procedures and doing a scope of practice review. Thanks in advance for your help!
