  • 1.  Safe Procedure Process in Ambulatory Clinics

    Posted 2 days ago

Hi, I am the RN Clinical Services Director at an Academic Medical Center and was wondering how you assisted your teams in the implementation and success with the Safe Procedure Process in your clinics. Do you require a minimum of 2 clinical staff (provider and clinical staff member) to remain in the room with the patient during the procedure to complete the pre-procedure briefing, time out and post-procedure debrief and required documentation? If not, what is your process?

    Best regards,

I work as a health care surveyor and I have seen different nursing roles depending on the level of anesthesia. Many organizations that only use local or topical for outpatient procedure may have just provider and/or clinical staff if needed for assisting.  I expect to see documentation of time out as well as pre procedure and post procedure assessments.  Sites do this with one or two staff depending on need as well as staffing available.
