  • 1.  Telephone Triage - out of country policy

    Posted 07-29-2024 16:18

    Good Afternoon-

Does anyone have a policy around callers/chatters who may be calling via phone/chatting via text  from outside of the US, and based on geo location they are indeed in another country, but verbally say that are in the US? Do you take the word of caller and proceed with triage? I am looking for the standards of care around this subject. I would love to hear from anyone with insight.

    Thank you,

Our policy is to take the word of the patient, as we serve a community that includes several military bases. Our protocol is to ask specifically where in Alaska they are calling from, and if they state a valid location, we go with that.
