Magnet status for Ambulatory setting

  • 1.  Magnet status for Ambulatory setting

    Posted 10-27-2022 11:11
    Hello,
I know that there was some discussion regarding the "how to" of pursuing Magnet Status for Ambulatory sites prior to Covid.  Does anyone have any updates on the journey for getting Magnet status in the Ambulatory world?  Is there a group already meeting about this topic?
    Thank you,
    -Robin

    Hello Elizabeth!

That's fantastic that you've been successful in achieving Magnet status for your organization!  I would love to learn more about your journey to get to that point.  Do you happen to have a better day/time that usually works better for you to meet?  I appreciate your willingness to help!

    Thank you,

Great to hear about your Magnet journey.  Please reach out if you are interested in benchmarking your ambulatory nurse sensitive indicators in a national benchmarking database.
We are looking for ideas for additional ambulatory indicators now, including workforce indicators that you might want.  Please let us know if you have ideas.

My organization is using NDNQI for ambulatory data with depression and falls. In 2023, I want to add diabetic measure and hypertension. We already internally track B/P > 140/90 with a goal of 10% reduction and A1C > 9 with a goal of 6% reduction. We met both of those 2022 internal goals so I will be anxious to see how we compare next year in NDNQI with those added measures.

    Dawn,
I am relatively new to the Ambulatory clinic (having  previously been their nursing educator).  Now I am in a role where I will need to perform projects such as  yours for our re-designation of Magnet.  Would there be a time we could talk as I am not good with metrics.  I have a wonderful mentor here who will be assisting me as well.  Currently our only data we are tracking is falls.
Thank you for any advice you can provide!

    Thank you so much Karla!

I would love to set up a time to meet with you regarding this topic.  Would you have a particular day/time that works better for you to meet to discuss?  How exciting that you got to walk the Magnet Celebration in Philadelphia!  What an honor/accomplishment!

    Thank you,

I'm very interest in your ambulatory Magnet journey. My ambulatory offices will go up for redesignation with the hospital in 2024. I would love to have insights in what innovative ambulatory process changes or improvement you did as part of your journey. I'm in my infancy in learning all things Magnet.

    Congratulations of this amazing accomplishment.

    Hello Lindsay!

I believe we met (virtually) about Shared Governance in the Ambulatory world approximately 1 year ago. Maybe I should just come to your place, and you can teach me everything that you know about the Ambulatory journey! I'd love to set up a time to meet with you - I know that my director is also interested in learning more about this topic of pursuing Magnet status.

Thank you for reaching out! I appreciate whatever words of wisdom you can share regarding this process!
If you have a day/time that works better for you, let me know.  I am also keenly aware that the holidays are fast approaching, so I want to be mindful of your time as well.
    Thank you!

    Good morning,
I wanted to jump into the conversation and let you all know that AAACN is currently working on a project that will help with all of these questions and the Magnet journey. We expect to be able to announce in the first quarter of 2023. Stay tuned!

As always, don't hesitate to reach out with any questions,
