    Posted yesterday

    Hi There,

Has anyone heard of the PACS program? I am wondering if it is worth sending someone from my organization to learn and bring back education on the PA process.

I appreciate you taking the time to review my question as well as any feedback.

    Thanks,

    Amber :)

    Hello Amber,

Is this the PAC you are refencing?

My response is that we must support full nursing scope of practice, which includes direct patient care.

When practices such as described above can be done by non-licensed nursing staff, they must be.

In other words, I see value in education and training for non-licensed nurses.

I know there are still many practices that use RN's to complete prior authorizations. These can be completed by others with training and close connection with the ordering provider.

In our organization we have a team of non-licensed nurses who manage our prior authorizations. They follow closely with the ordering physician and receive training about the medications and processes.

They obtain the fastest prior approval status I have seen. They are amazing!!
