Hi Kathy,
Our patients do go through the rooming process, which includes vital signs and screenings. The clinic I am covering has the RN performing this currently but we have introduced mental health partners and I am trying to understand what they can/cannot do since they are not clinically trained like the LPN, MA, or CNA/PCT (their only requirement is that they have a Bachelor's of Science in a Social Science field).

Subject: Psych clinic staffing?
Good morning,
Great question and I am looking forward to the responses.
We are going to be adding some clinic visits for the psych service line in the near future. My thought is we we should do a complete intake with a RN just like we do for our other clinics before rooming the patient. I am wondering if any of you have experience with this and if you do a complete RN intake with vitals and screening and the entire intake process for these clinic visits?
I have made this recommendation that we should have the same intake process, but would appreciate to know what our peer institutions do in their ambulatory clinics? Thank you all.

Subject: Psych clinic staffing?
Good morning,
What clinical roles are being used in your ambulatory psych clinics? Is anyone hiring qualified mental health professionals or mental health partners/assistants and if so what is their role in the clinic? Looking forward to any responses, thank you!
